Taxis at Audley End station are thought to .be expensive although in fact the fare is actually very fair. You are quite literally charged for the distance you travel rather than a fixed price. If you are travelling fom Audley End station to one of the villages such as Elmdon, Heydon, Chrishall, Great Chishill, Clavering etc the Audley End Station Taxis are by far the cheapest way to travel as the taxi firms in Saffron Walden will all charge you £5.00 before you even get into the taxi. Saffron walden taxi firms are currently requesting an increase in taxi meter fares, this is being opposed by the majority of taxi drivers at Audley End train station who beleive that although our costs have increased dramatically over the last 12 months an increase in prices this year will hurt our customers to much. The taxi drivers at audley end station have got a petition together to try and stop this increase from going through all we can do now is hope that our local saffron walden councillors see sense and side with the majority.
